Yay/nay?
The reviews are mostly positive, but Tirerack doesn’t have ratings up yet. Too new apparently.
For comparison, the tires are 235/75R16, my stock ones are Goodyear ST’s and my options are:
BFGoodrich Rugged Terrain A/T
Hankook Durapro AT-M
Both in LT rating. There’s no way they would be worse than stock (look at the ratings and you’ll see what I mean—the BFG’s are even better on noise than the OEM’s despite being much chunkier), but are the BFG’s worth $50 more for the set than the Hankooks?

Both are good, hard to pick between the two. The hankook design is newer however. The previous iteration seemed to fair well into the 40-50k mileage range. Thats about the most you’ll see out of those two.

Those are your only two options in that size? What about Cooper Discoverer AT/3?
I have a set on my Envoy and MontegoMan has a set on his Commander. We both love them.

Personally I’m a huge fan of our Cooper Discoverer AT3's that we put on our mildly lifted Commander. Great tire at a great price
If you’re looking for more aggressive they even have the S/T MAXX and the STT PRO.

Ha. We should really both just work for Cooper.

No, but they’re sort of in the same price range. I don’t want to spend a ton since the US dollar multiplies everything, but I want to get the best pick possible.
These were the only two in range from Tire Rack. Discount Tire hasn’t been working for me. Though now I try it in IE11 it does... screw you Firefox
Thanks for the tip.

My dad opened the first Cooper Tire Center on the east coast when I was about 5.
Haha, interestingly enough the set on the Commander are my first Cooper purchase though, always went with Goodyear Wrangler’s before this Cooper set. I’m liking the Coopers better (AND THEIR PRICE BETTER)

Honestly I just want more aggressive than stock, ie highway tires are out. Looking for the best balance possible for the lowest price. Not too focused on off road or all highway driving.
How much did you end up paying? Is the site accurate or did you manage to get a deal somewhere?

The other thing (I forgot) Was that my stock tires are a 106S rating, and my Blizzaks are 109R. Now I’d rather drive all year on my Blizzaks than go back to stock. I had the impression that the stiffer sidewall on the 109 rating might have helped handling a little, so that’s one of the things I’ve been looking for. Though of course now that I’ve looked at Tireracks ratings on the OEM tires it could be that the stock tires just happen to be pathetic, so it probably doesn’t matter. How much did you pay, btw? You’re in Canada too right?

The Goodriches are flat out good. They’re like a jack of all trades, not excellent at any one thing but good all around.
In that same price range you may want to check the Falken Wildpeak AT. I put a set on Crusty a few months back and couldn’t be happier. (It’s also the first non-Goodrich “AT” tire I’ve ever purchased.)

Falkens don’t appear to be available for my size unfortunately.

Ah, you’re right. It’d be a +1 on size for those.

I thought you were Alberta. I think I got you muddled up with Lumpy44.
143x1.4=200.20*4=800.80*1.13=904.90+110=1014.90 on the road. I can have a set of Dynapro’s for 749 and BFG’s for 790. Fuck that noise, fuck our dollar and fuck the Ontario government. Thanks anyway

To be fair, it looks like your size is currently listed ad $122USD/per. Still not as close, though. Good luck!

honestly I got a deal.
The AT3's have great highway handling, no drone from excessive tread but tons of tread when you need. Seems like the perfect tire man.
Here they are about to be put on:

I have the hankook dynapros on my x5 and i’m a huge fan, little to zero road noise, great wet and dry traction and great in the snow.... It does everything I need.
